How to Set Your FTP Setting for Addon Domains!
How to Set Your FTP Setting for Addon Domains
You may FTP files to an addon domain in two ways:
1. Through your primary domain
To FTP files to an addon domain, use the same information you would use for your primary domain name, with one change: instead of the destination folder/file path being listed as /public_html, it should be /public_html/addondomain.com ([C1] replacing “addondomain.com” with the actual domain name).
Your FTP login information would then be:
Host/Server Address: primarydomain.com (without the “www.”)
Username: your cPanel username
Password: your cPanel password
Destination Folder/File Path: /public_html/addondomain.com
Port: 21 (you may not be asked for the port number – it depends on the FTP program)
In the above, replace “primarydomain.com” and “addondomain.com” with the actual domain names.
If your FTP program does not ask for a destination folder/file path, you will need to navigate to the addon domain’s folder through the FTP program before you start transferring files.
2. Directly through the addon domain
You can also transfer files using the addon domain’s unique login information.
Host/Server Address: addondomain.com (without the “www.”)
Username:
Password: the password you created when you set up the addon domain. If you don’t remember it, you can assign a new password through the FTP Accounts icon in cPanel. You don’t need to know the current password to assign a new one.
Destination Folder/File Path: (leave blank)
Port: 21 (you may not be asked for the port number – it depends on the FTP program)
*Treat your user name like an email address using your primary domain. For the bit in front of the “@” symbol, just use the addon domain name without the “www.” or the extension (e.g., www.addondomain.com would be just “addondomain” and the user name would look like:

How to upload your files to the Internet
When an Internet browser visits your website, the first thing it does is search your /public_html folder for a file called “index.” It can be index.htm, index.html, index.php, or have another ending, but the main part will be called “index,” with a lower-case “i.” If an index file is found, this is displayed in the Internet browser automatically. Most websites use this index file as the website’s home page. You can view the /public_html folder yourself by using your cPanel’s File Manager. You can use a variety of methods to publish your index file.
To upload to your primary domain, you will also need your FTP login information and settings from your Websites-Unlimited welcome e-mail.

FTP Programs
The most popular way to publish files to the web is by using an FTP (file transfer protocol) program. These programs create a link between your computer and the server that hosts your account, allowing you to copy and paste (or click and drag) your website files to your Websites-Unlimited hosting space. Many FTP programs, including FileZilla, ws_FTP, and CuteFTP are free or have free trials. You just need to download the program and install it.
Web Design Program’s Built-In File Transfer Feature
FTP programs are also included in web building software, such as Dreamweaver. There are far too many programs available for us to provide instructions for all of them, but here are some articles for the most popular:
cPanel’s File Manager
You may upload your files directly from within cPanel by using the File Manager (in the “Files” icon group). You can find a video tutorial for the File Manager here:
We suggest you do not use File Manager if you have a large number of files to upload. File Manager uploads only one file at a time and will not let you select entire folders. This can be a very long process unless you can create a compressed (zip) file to upload your entire website at once.

FTP is the most popular way to publish files to the web. An FTP program creates a link that allows you to copy website files from your computer to a Websites-Unlimited server. Websites-Unlimited supports a number of FTP programs, many of which are available free of charge.
Most web-building software, including Websites-Unlimited Website Builder (included with your Websites-Unlimited hosting plan), Dreamweaver, FrontPage, and iWeb include FTP programs to help you publish your site.

You may log in to your cPanel and upload your web files directly from the File Manager (under the “Files” icon).
